April 15 – 22, 2023

Since 1929, Garden Club of Virginia’s Historic Garden Week has been an iconic part of Virginia’s history. Held every April at the height of bloom, it attracts approximately 26,000 enthusiasts annually from all over the world. It is the nation’s only statewide home and garden tour. It was inspired from a flower show organized by the Garden Club of Virginia to raise money towards saving trees planted by Thomas Jefferson at Monticello. Today the proceeds fund the restoration and preservation of more than 40 of Virginia’s public historic landscapes and gardens. It has run consistently except for a period around World War II and in 2020. This will be the 90th Garden Tour Week.

Every year, the garden club coordinates access to more than 100 homes and gardens with 29 tours over eight consecutive days all across Virginia. There are several tour dates near L’Auberge Provençale for 2023: Clarke County, Middleburg/Upperville, Front Royal and Rappahannock County. The nearby tours will visit Blandy Experimental Farm, a 712-acre property also known as the State Arboretum of Virginia, that contains the historic Tuleyries estate. The tour will also include Carter Hall, one of the most historic properties in Virginia; Little Oak Spring, legendary garden designer Bunny Mellon’s iconic estate; and many other beautiful places of interest.

Whether you are an avid gardener or someone who enjoys the beauty of nature and history, attending a garden tour will surely be a memorable experience. Book a room in our historic manor and enjoy the nearby tours within minutes of the inn. After the tour, come relax in a cozy room or stroll the grounds where our own seasonal flowers are in bloom. Then dine from one of our delicious menus, where we utilize fruits from our orchards and vegetables from our gardens.
