Enjoy fresh pressed, flash pasteurized apple cider (the best in the Valley), apple butter, and select variety of apples in a gorgeous orchard setting. Pick your own apples at Rinker which specializes in dwarf, trellised trees that are easy to pick. Open Seasonally

Nalls Farm Market

State Arboretum at Blandy Farm

Shenandoah National Park

Old Rag Mountain Loop Trail

Antietam Battlefield
The site of the bloodiest one day battle in American history where 23,000 soldiers were killed, wounded or missing after twelve hours of savage combat on September 17, 1862. The Battle of Antietam ended the Confederate Army of Northern Virginia’s first invasion into the North and led to Abraham Lincoln’s issuance of the preliminary Emancipation Proclamation.

Manassas Battlefield
Where Southern victories tested Northern resolve. Park is open daily dawn to dusk.

Harpers Ferry WV
Harpers Ferry was cited by art history experts as the most “painted town” in America because of its spectacular scenery. It’s the site of three Civil War battles and is full of history. This quaint little town is always open, however shops and restaurants may have limited hours.
